Mingdun Glass is one of the earliest high-tech enterprises in China to engage in the research and development and production of safety glass for rail transit. It is a participating research unit for the front windshield and window glass of high-speed EMUs of the Ministry of Railways and a leading enterprise in the research and development and production of bulletproof and anti-riot transparent and opaque products in the industry

Smart Dimming & Switchable Glass

Smart Dimming & Switchable Glass is an advanced intelligent glazing technology that allows glass to transition instantly between transparent and opaque states at the touch of a button. Using PDLC, electrochromic, or SPD technologies, it gives users precise control over light, glare, and privacy without the need for blinds or curtains. Ideal for offices, hotels, healthcare facilities, residential interiors, and automotive applications, it combines modern aesthetics with energy efficiency, reducing cooling loads and enhancing comfort. With options for dimming, zoning, and smart-home integration, it delivers privacy on demand, cleaner design lines, and a more sustainable building envelope. Easy to install and maintain, it is a future-ready solution for architects, designers, and developers seeking flexible, high-performance glass.

Electrically Heated Glass

Electrically heated glass is an advanced glazing solution that uses an invisible conductive coating or fine heating element laminated inside the glass to generate gentle, even warmth. When connected to a low-voltage power supply, it clears fog, frost, and condensation quickly while maintaining optical clarity and natural light. Unlike traditional heating systems, it heats the glass surface directly, improving thermal comfort, reducing draughts, and preventing snow or ice build-up. It is ideal for windows, skylights, doors, facades, refrigeration displays, and automotive applications. Available in clear, tinted, and low-e options, electrically heated glass can be customized for size, shape, voltage, and wattage. It supports energy efficiency by lowering heating demand near glazed areas, and it integrates with smart controls and building management systems. Durable, safe, and virtually maintenance-free, it is a high-performance choice for architects, designers, and developers seeking reliable anti-condensation and defrosting performance with rapid response and low power consumption.

Bent Chemically Strengthened Glass

Bent chemically strengthened glass is a high-performance curved glass produced by shaping glass into precise 2D or 3D curves, then strengthening it through ion exchange. In this process, smaller sodium ions are replaced by larger potassium ions, creating a deep compressive layer that improves scratch, impact, and flexural resistance. This allows thin, lightweight glass to achieve exceptional strength while maintaining optical clarity and design freedom. Unlike thermally tempered curved glass, chemically strengthened glass can be made thinner, with tighter bend radii and complex geometries, making it ideal for automotive displays, curved touch screens, smart appliances, medical devices, and premium architectural interiors. It can be combined with anti-glare, anti-fingerprint, anti-reflective, and low-e coatings. Customizable in thickness, curvature, shape, and surface finish, it supports edge polishing, printing, and lamination. For designers seeking durable, elegant, and lightweight curved glass, bent chemically strengthened glass offers a versatile, future-ready solution.

Chemically Strengthened Glass

Chemically strengthened glass is a high-performance glass produced by ion exchange, where sodium ions are replaced by larger potassium ions to create a deep compressive stress layer. This makes thin glass stronger, more scratch-resistant, and more impact-resistant while preserving optical clarity. In architecture, it supports slim facades, partitions, balustrades, and doors when laminated for safety. In rail transport, it is used in windows, door vision panels, interior partitions, and display covers, helping meet demanding impact, fire, and durability requirements. In security, it forms a key component of laminated forced-entry and ballistic-resistant glazing, reducing weight and thickness while improving attack resistance. It can be coated, printed, curved, and laminated with PVB, SGP, or polycarbonate. Unlike thermally tempered glass, it can be processed before strengthening and offers excellent strength in thin formats. It is a versatile solution for safer, lighter, and more design-driven glazing across architecture, rail, and security.

Headlights And Side Lenses

Train headlights and side lenses are specialized glass components engineered for the exterior lighting and signaling systems of locomotives, multiple units, metros, and light rail vehicles. Manufactured from toughened, borosilicate, or laminated glass, these lenses must withstand high-speed particle impact, extreme temperature swings, UV exposure, vibration, and vandalism while maintaining precise optical performance. Headlight lenses deliver homogeneous illumination and rapid intensity decrease for safe track visibility, while side lenses and signal covers ensure clear, reliable light output for signaling and marker functions. Compliant with EN 15152, GB 48005, and railway glazing standards, they are available in flat, curved, and aspherical configurations with anti-reflective, UV-filtering, and colored coatings. Ideal for OEM and aftermarket applications, these lenses combine durability, optical clarity, and weather resistance to meet the demanding requirements of modern rail operations.

Locomotive front windscreen glass

Locomotive front windscreen glass is a high-performance safety glazing engineered for the extreme demands of rail transport. Positioned at the front of the driver's cab, it must withstand high-speed projectile impacts, gravel strikes, temperature extremes, and constant vibration while maintaining exceptional optical clarity. Manufactured from laminated glass with interlayers such as PVB, SGP, or polycarbonate composites, it complies with EN 15152, GM/RT 2456, and FRA requirements. Integrated heating systems using fine tungsten wires or transparent conductive coatings provide rapid de-icing and de-misting across the entire glass surface. Anti-spall layers prevent flying glass fragments from injuring the driver. Available in flat and curved configurations with low-emissivity coatings and wiper-friendly surfaces, locomotive front windscreen glass delivers the visibility, safety, and durability that modern rail operations demand.

Technological and R&D Advantages

Mingdun Glass is one of the earliest high-tech enterprises in China to engage in the research and development and production of safety glass for rail transit.

Ordinary tempered glass (physically tempered), also known in the industry as safety glass, is the most widely used type of tempered glass today, offering fast processing and low cost. However, it has inherent defects such as spontaneous breakage, light refraction, and a low safety factor, affecting the user experience.

The industry generally considers the spontaneous breakage rate of physically tempered glass to be 0.3%. Even after homogenization furnace treatment, the spontaneous breakage rate can be reduced to 0.1%, but it cannot completely prevent the occurrence of spontaneous breakage. Spontaneous breakage of physically tempered glass is characterized by randomness, uncertainty, and suddenness.

Mingdun Company, adhering to the safety product concept of "impact resistance and penetration prevention," has addressed the shortcomings of ordinary tempered glass by employing ion replacement technology to produce ion-tempered glass (chemically tempered), which boasts higher safety performance and stronger impact resistance.

Mingdun Company has two ion tempering furnaces, which are independently designed and manufactured by Mingdun and have complete independent intellectual...
